Two things revoke a Will

  • Writing a new Will
  • Getting Married

How does this affect you? a partner dies, and you have Mirror Wills. The surviving partner has been left everything which is right, however they re-write their Will leaving everything they inherited to just one person or alters the percentages that each beneficiary receives.

Manipulative marriage, this happens when a person may not have all their faculties (Dementia) although this prevents them from writing a new Will, they can still legally remarry. This will revoke the original Will made with their previous husband or wife. Now the intestacy rules apply – leaving everything to their new spouse. In most cases the family is totally unaware of the marriage taking place.
